How does finasteride work?
Finasteride works by lowering levels of a hormone called DHT, which causes hair follicles to shrink. By reducing DHT, it helps slow down hair loss and allows thicker, stronger hair to grow back over time.
Is Finasteride effective for hair loss?
Finasteride is highly effective for most men. Around 9 out of 10 men either stop losing hair or see new growth after taking it daily for 3 to 6 months. The longer it’s used, the better the results tend to be.
What causes male pattern baldness
Male pattern baldness is mainly caused by a hormone called DHT, which makes hair follicles shrink over time. As the follicles get smaller, the hair becomes thinner and eventually stops growing. Genetics also play a big role - if it runs in your family, you’re more likely to experience it.
Is Finasteride suitable for everyone?
Finasteride is suitable for most men with male pattern hair loss, but it isn’t right for everyone. It’s only for adult men, and it shouldn’t be used by women or anyone under 18. Before prescribing, our clinicians review your health and medication history to make sure it’s safe and suitable for you.
